Fred Fletcher and Willie Nelson launched Pedernales Records in 1999, with the idea of starting a Texas-based label, to make and distribute records they wanted to release. Through Pedernales Records, Fred and Willie created the perfect outlet for promoting and exposing music they love, without conforming to industry boundaries or opinions.

Pedernales Record’s first release was Willie Nelson’s Night and Day. The album garnered Pedernales Records a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Pop Instrumental. Several other Willie Nelson releases followed, including Gypsy with Jackie King and Joy in 2001.

In 2000 Pedernales Records released Honkytonk Heroes — a collection of songs by famed Texas artist and songwriter, Billy Joe Shaver. Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson turn in memorable performances on this Texas-country classic.

Pedernales Records continued its success with its third GRAMMY Nomination for the 2001 release, Poet: A Tribute to Townes Van Zandt, featuring heartfelt renditions from Lucinda Williams, Willie Nelson, Guy Clark and Emmy Lou Harris. The record itself was nominated for 2 GRAMMYs.

The label’s latest release, Farther Along: The Gospel Collection, features personal gospel favorites performed by Willie Nelson and his sister, Bobbie Nelson, such as I’ll Fly Away, How Great Thou Art, and Old Time Religion.

The Pedernales artist roster continues to grow with the addition of Houston-based singer Andrea Fairless. Fairless’ She Manages is currently gaining airplay and she is sure to be a rising star on the country music scene.
